Bisbal Básquet is one step away from the Catalan League (75-67)

Bisbal Bàsquet had Barça Atlètic against the ropes in the final of the EBA Catalan League. Carles Rofes’ team had a 7 point margin in the last quarter, but ended up succumbing to the Blaugrana subsidiary 75 to 67.

The team from Empordà played an intense match and did not let Barça feel comfortable at any moment of the match. With casualties, some important ones such as Xevi Torrent’s, and a short rotation, Bisbal went ahead in the score at half-time 33 to 37 based on work and struggle and with an inspired Jaume Solé (15 points in the half part). The Blaugrana, disoriented and confused, have noticed how the Old Pavilion pressed bravely. A player like Caicedo, who already knows what it’s like to play in the Euroleague with the first team, has signed very poor numbers until half-time.

Roger Grimau, coach of Barça Atlètic, was not happy at half-time, but the technical talk, perhaps with some booing, had an effect, and the Blaugrana players showed a different face. Lacking in some moments of success, Carles Rofes’ men have continued to fight absolutely every ball to get second options. Dibba has embodied this spirit of a stonemason in the facet of the rebound. The last seconds of the third quarter left a crazy outcome, with Bisbal scoring six consecutive points with two 2+1s and a technique to Iglesias, which left them ahead again (51-54).

Solé showed off his excellent wrist again, scoring eight consecutive points for Baix Empordà, which gave them the biggest advantage of the game. In a close final, the Blaugrana were more successful and ended up bending the Bisbalen resistance. He will not have lifted the title, but Bisbal Básquet has signed a championship to frame and that injects a bubble of optimism to start the league next week.
