“Better than a fracture” “At best ig”

In terms of injuries, Lady Luck hasn’t been kind to the New York Yankees this season. However, they dodged a bullet Tuesday night after right-hander James Taillon narrowly escaped a broken bone.

Taillon left his start against the Los Angeles Angels in the second inning after being hit by a line drive from Magneuris Sierra. Taillon’s wrist began to swell, causing him to fear the worst.

Although, he didn’t need to be anxious for a long time. A quick trip to the X-ray room at Angels eased all concerns by revealing that Taillon suffered only a bruise to his arm and no fractures.

@Yankees ok well better than a fracture or something

The update came as a great sense of relief for the Yankees, who no longer have Néstor Cortés and Luis Severino.

@Yankees Thanks god! With our luck I was thinking it was going to be worse

Severino is scheduled to begin his rehab this week and could return in mid-September. Cortes, meanwhile, is expected to be activated from the IL next week.

Fans also question the Yankees’ decision to trade Jordan Montogomery to the St. Louis Cardinals on deadline day. At a time when the Yankees have struggled for bullpen depth, the move has baffled many, to say the least.

@Yankees so Cashman’s plan was to have only 3 real SPs by September 1, no matter when the playoffs start. That Montgomery trade is looking worse every day.

@Yankees Can we maybe return that injured 5th outfielder to the Cards for Montgomery now ????‍♂️?!?

A fracture would most likely have ended Jameson Taillon’s season. A concussion is not that serious. Taillon is not expected to miss any of his starts.

Taillon, unfortunately, has known adversity all too well in recent years. He has overcome two Tommy John surgeries and testicular cancer.

The New York Yankees’ bullpen stepped up in the absence of Jameson Taillon.

Taillon’s returns in the second half haven’t been as consistent as the first, but he remains a reliable shooting option for the New York Yankees.

He is 12-4 with a 3.97 ERA in 140 ⅔ innings this year. In his last seven starts, he has compiled a 4.06 ERA.

Taillon gave up a two-run homer to Max Stassi before getting hit by Sierra. He was replaced by rookie reliever Greg Weissart in the bottom third.

The reorganized bullpen stepped up, allowing just two runs in seven innings, helping the Yankees win 7-4.

Aaron Judge hit his 51st home run in the top of the fourth. He is now just ten shy of Roger Maris’ American League single-season record (61).

The Yankees will meet the Angels again later tonight for the final game of their three-game series.
