BASKETBALL – Vice President Raquel Peña leads the opening ceremony of the DN Superior Basket Tournament

The Vice President of the Republic Raquel Peña led this Wednesday the opening ceremony of the XLIII Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District, dedicated to Don César Cedeño and in option to the BanReservas Cup.

Vice President Peña, in a speech before the media present, assured that “sport is a cornerstone for the Government of President Luis Abinader.”

“Sport is an essential part of what is the formation of the human being, these are healthy recreation spaces, of which President Abinader is committed through all his officials,” Peña exclaimed.

He stressed that this sporting event has a brilliant godfather such as our colleague Yayo (Eduardo Sanz Lovatón), who has been working to make everything a success.

He stressed that sport for the Government of President Abinader is a cornerstone for the growth and training of athletes, and above all that we see how families come here to enjoy each game. Success to all who are going to compete tonight,” said Vice President Peña.

Peña was also accompanied by Yayo Sanz Lovatón, who serves as president of the Organizing Committee of the Superior District Basketball Tournament; Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police; of Don Cesar Cedeno; Jesús -Chú- Vásquez, Minister of the Interior and Police; Francisco Camacho, Minister of Sports; Rafael Uribe, president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal); and Dr. José Joaquín Puello Herrera, Ad-Vitam president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).

As well as, Alberto Rodríguez, Vice Minister of the Presidency; and Deputy Orlando Jorge Villegas, among other personalities.

The major of the National Police, Nelson Veras, sang the National Anthem.

They recognize Beating

The Vice President of the Republic Raquel Peña, Yayo Sanz Lovatón for the Organizing Committee and Diego Pesqueira, in his capacity as president of the Basketball Association of the National District (Abadina), presented a plaque of recognition to José Ignacio Paliza, administrative minister of the Presidency, past president of the Organizing Committee (2021 tournament), which Minister Chú Vásquez received on his behalf.

Peña also gave recognition to Cedeño, to whom they dedicated the 2022 tournament.

The one of honor was made by Vice President Raquel Peña.

Bameso won guided by Dicent

The Bameso club defeated the Los Prados team, 85-79, in the match played at the Palacio de los Deportes Professor Virgilio Travieso Soto.

Miguel Dicent was the big man in Bameso’s offense with 19 points and five assists, followed with 19 points also by reinforcement Trahson Burrell, who added 13 rebounds for a double-double, imitated by Víctor Liz with 10 baskets and 11 sacks.

For Los Prados, reinforcement Terry Thomas 22 points, Jaison Valdez had double figures of 17 units and 12 rebounds, and the other imported Brandon Peterson 13.
