The second week of preparation for the Siem Basket Venafrowho after a few days of break found herself back on the parquet of the PalaPedemontana to resume the work of Coach Valente and the physical trainer Concetta Cotugno, in view of the start of the new season. But how did the first week go on the parquet? We asked Coach Valente for a first evaluation of the team:
Hi Coach, how did this first week of preparation go? How did you see the group?
“The first week went very well. The guys worked with good intensity, both as regards the physical part with Concetta, and as regards the technical part. We are still at the very first indications, because it is a partially new group and much younger than last year and therefore, before introducing the most important concepts, we need to play together and get to know each other ”.
What kind of team should we expect for this season? With what kind of game?
“I strongly wanted to lower the average age of the team compared to last year to have a more dynamic group, which will certainly have fewer centimeters and fewer kilos, but which will have to focus a lot on competitive spirit and the desire to emerge. In qualitative terms, perhaps there is something less than the staff of last season, but I also think that the margins for growth and trainability are much wider and this is very stimulating both for me and I think also for the group. For this reason, we will certainly set up a very different basketball compared to the one we saw last year ”.
It is certainly still early to make assessments, but what are your and the club’s goals for this season?
“If it is certainly early to make assessments, then let’s not do them!”.
