Banda Norte and Atenas, champions of the “Super 6” » Municipalidad de Córdoba

• The “Super 6” ended this Sunday at the Carlos Cerutti Sports Center, with outstanding women’s and men’s teams from the Province.
• Banda Norte de Río Cuarto became champion of the women’s category and Atenas took the men’s cup.

Throughout the day yesterday, the last date of the Copa Ciudad de Córdoba tournament was held, with outstanding local and provincial women’s and men’s basketball teams, as a prelude to the start of the National Basketball League.

In the first municipal edition of the City of Basketball Cup, the women’s team of Banda Norte de Río Cuarto won first place. In a very disputed final, he beat James Craik’s Chañares on the last play at the Cerutti before a large crowd, 75-66.

In the men’s category, it was the Athens team that became champion, beating Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba, 94 to 89.

The prizes, the same for both categories, were awarded by Medardo Ligorria and other authorities from the Undersecretary of Sport and Recreation of the Municipality of Córdoba: $500,000 for first place, $400,000 for second, $300,000 for third and $100,000 for fourth through sixth places.

In addition, the cups and trophies for the first places and the medals that all the teams received were made by the COyS, with recycled materials, a product of the Circular Economy.

In the women’s category, second place went to Chañares de James Craik, third to Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba and fourth place went to Universitario. The fifth was for the FBPC National Team, and the sixth for Barrio Parque.

In men’s, the second place went to Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba. The third place went to San Isidro de San Francisco, by beating Independiente de Oliva, leaving the latter in fourth place. Fifth place was won by Barrio Parque and the Córdoba National Team came sixth.

The cup was organized by the Municipality of Córdoba, through the Secretary of Government and General Management of the Cabinet, the Undersecretary of Sports and Recreation with the collaboration of the Cordoba Basketball Federation, Acoteba and the Cordoba Basketball Association.

The Voice of the Interior participated in this Cup, which awarded the player and most valuable player prizes in the tournament and Fair Play for the team with the fewest fouls in the tournament.

April Kauer, from Banda Norte, was awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. In the final, she stood out with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

The Most Valuable Player award, presented by La Voz and Mundo D, went to Federico Mariani, who closed the night with 21 points.

“We understand that the municipality can bring together major events, always in company with the Province and as a result of joint work with the institutions, not only to promote sports in our city, but also to install the Córdoba brand. Thanks to the clubs for joining us, this is the way to put the city in the highest place in the region”expressed the Secretary of Government and General Management of the Cabinet, Miguel Siciliano.

One feature that this tournament had is that it was free for residents and visitors. All the games were played at the Cerutti Sports Center, which already has new lights and we continue with the repairs, in this case of the floor”, expressed Medardo Ligorria, undersecretary of Sports and Recreation.
