Badminton player Fernanda Saponara won a bronze medal in Brazil

The badminton player Fernanda Saponara won the bronze medal in the BWF Brazil International Series Tournament held in the city of Teresinha (Brazil).

It is important to note that the national athlete came to this championship after training at the European High Performance Center in Denmark, for a scholarship granted by the Pan American Badminton Confederation.

In the first match, Fernanda faced Jackeline Luz from Brazil, winning 2-1 with partials (21-14 / 19-21 / 21-13). Saponara then faced Samia Lima, a Brazilian top, who had Marco Vasconcellos (coach of the Brazilian Badminton team) and Fabiana Silva, an Olympian in Tokyo, on the bench. The Peruvian won 2-1 with partials (13-21 / 21-16 / 21-17).

Advancing in the championship, he collided with the Guatemalan Nikte Sotomayor, an Olympian from Tokyo assisted by one of the coaches who worked with Kevin Cordon (Bronze medal in Tokyo 2020) and the match was won 2-0 with partials (21-18 / 21- 19) and in the semifinals she faced the Mexican Vanessa García losing 1 to 2 with partials (21-18 / 12-21 / 21-14).

The national badminton bathed in gold by winning 10 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze) at the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games and now the national team has been confirmed for the Asunción 2022 South American Games to be held from 1 to October 15 of this year.

For the ASU 2022 Games, the same team from Valledupar will go: José Guevara, Daniel La Torre, Diego Mini, Diego Subauste, Inés Castillo, Paula La Torre, Fernanda Saponara and Namie Miyahira.
