Athletics – World Indoor Championships postponed again – Sport

The World Indoor Championships for track and field athletes in Nanjing, China, has been postponed for the third time due to the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictive measures taken by the host nation. The title fights are now scheduled to take place in spring 2025, the exact date has not yet been set. This was announced by the world association World Athletics (WA) on Thursday. The World Indoor Championships in Nanjing should originally have been held in 2020, but was then postponed to 2021 and later to March 2023. “We are disappointed that we have had to postpone this event again due to circumstances beyond our control,” said WA President Sebastian Coe. “But we have done this to protect the athletes and member federations looking forward to the competitive season Prepare to give certainty in 2023.” The next World Indoor Championships will not take place in Glasgow until 2024. The next outdoor world championships are coming up in less than a year in Budapest.
