Athletes with down syndrome met at a Tennis National

It was in Esperanza with the participation of local athletes and those from Córdoba, Rosario and San Jerónimo Norte. Juan Ignacio Alarcón was the one who obtained the most points for the ranking.

Culminating with the success desired by everyone in the organization, the historic 1st. National Tennis Tournament for athletes with Down Syndrome, which the “Rafa Tennis” had been preparing for a long time.
After the very good performance of the tennis players in the National of different sports activities, developed months ago in Buenos Aires, they were working on the organization of this National, with the support of the FADASD – Argentine Federation of Sports for Athletes with Syndrome of Down .

With participants who came from Córdoba, Rosario, San Jerónimo Norte, together with the locals Juan Ignacio Alarcón and Facundo Benítez, from “Rafa Tenis”, tennis was enjoyed in a double day. They played both singles and doubles, Saturday and Sunday, until the rain prevented their continuity.

This very good experience served everyone, with a great incentive for the group that accompanies the athletes, and essentially the tennis players, who had excellent motivation. It was like “planting a little seed” in this discipline, and continuing it with another call, adding more participating boys.

As stipulated, a ranking was put together to keep a score, in view of what would be a possibility of accessing international participation.

The winner of the contest, adding the first 100 points was Esperanto “Juani” Alarcón and second, reaping 80 points, Nicolás Argüello from Córdoba.

The event had the support of the Municipality of Esperanza, through the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Argentine Sports Federation for athletes with Down Syndrome and the Argentine Litoral Tennis League.

Everything closed with the emotional awards ceremony, and recognition for all those who collaborated to make this event successful, having enjoyed its realization, with effort, but with great pleasure, because it touches the heart a lot.
