Archery in Sardinia: waiting for the 3D Italians in the Oristano area

CAGLIARI, SEPTEMBER 16, 2022 – The passion for 3D Archery knows no bounds and for the first time in history, Sardinia has the honor of hosting the individual Italian Championships of the specialty. Between San Vero Milis and Narbolia, in the province of Oristano, 330 specialists are expected who from 23 to 25 September 2022 will compete first between the pine forests of Is Benas and Is Arenas, and then, for the grand finale, will cross the gates of the Is Golf Club Arenas.

The important three days of sport draws inspiration from the iron collaboration stipulated between the Sardinian Committee of FITARCO, chaired by Pino Spanu, and the ASD Annuagras Arcieri di Nurachi, led by the very dynamic Ignazio Tiana.

In fact, the island had already hosted the 3D World Championships in 2013 at Lake Baratz; as then it is a great bet carried out between the organizing parties that have been set in motion since the beginning of the year.

All the accommodation facilities in the area (hotels, b & bs, campsites, agritourisms) that embrace the municipalities of Oristano, Cabras, Nurachi and Milis have been alerted for an invasion presumably higher than the number of official registrations because additional companions between managers and family members; the occasion is too tempting to visit celebrated places with a high tourist impact.

NUMBERS AND PLACES

In detail, the tricolor exhibition sees 123 naked bows, 64 longbows, 50 instinctive, 93 compound at work. Among them, 62 are part of the youth categories. The Sardinian movement participates with 90 athletes, distributed over 13 clubs.

It all starts on Friday 23 September with the qualifying races spread over four different fields, reserved for all types of arches and equipped with 24 pitches each. Those who achieve the two highest scores go directly to the semifinals. The third to twenty-second place finishers find themselves in the clashes on Saturday morning, until there are two of them to join the other semifinalists who will find themselves in the golf facility made available by the owner of the Is Arenas Golf Club, Piero Maria Pellò.

The Friday afternoon program also includes mix team matches (teams made up of a female and a male) with any type of bow; while Saturday afternoon leaves room for team clashes. By 1am on Sunday morning everything will end with the awards ceremony.

THE STRONG SYNERGY BETWEEN ANNUAGRAS AND FITARCO SARDINIA

The president of the Archers Annuagras has properly prodded the island committee of the Fitarco. On the other hand, Ignazio Tiana and his very valiant partners have never disappointed expectations when they worked hard to set up regional competitions that found their way into the pine forests of Is Benas and Is Arenas. Extremely vast and “fertile” land that certainly facilitated the tasks: “In the end it was a question of carefully searching the areas concerned – points out the president of FITARCO Sardegna Pino Spanu – to identify the most suitable areas for positioning the shapes.

In all, about thirty volunteers were involved, both in preparing the fields and in providing assistance to the competitors.

But speaking of the island movement, we wonder about the potential of our archers who qualified for the grand finale. “I hope they will give us great satisfaction – adds Pino Spanu – but at the moment there are no certainties, even if we trust a lot in the athletes of our nurseries; in the 2021 edition, at the Laceno lake, they gave us several medals. Finally, I hope that the enormous efforts made will be appreciated by our guests ”.

The event will be open and officially presented on Thursday 22 September at 19:00 at the Is Benas Country Lodge, an accommodation facility adjacent to the competition fields. Many representative authorities of the territory are expected.
