The big bird flew sideways at Mollema during the relay race with Team Netherlands.
A team time trial that had already started badly for the 35-year-old rider. After a few kilometers he had to deal with chain failure.
The mixed relay was not a success for the Netherlands. After a fall of Annemiek van Vleuten and the chain failure for Bauke Mollema, there was no more than a 5th place.
The Belgian team set the 8th fastest time. Switzerland won ahead of Italy and Australia.
