Ajax star Jurrien Timber remains an issue at Bayern Munich

Due to the departure of national player Niklas Süle, FC Bayern searched intensively for a new central defender last summer. After numerous speculations and transfer rumours, Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt switched to the German record champions. According to current reports, the next Dutch central defender could follow in the summer of 2023.

Last summer, Jurrien Timber was increasingly associated with a move to Bayern Munich. The young defensive talent from Ajax Amsterdam made his breakthrough, especially at the 2021 European Championship. Timber played his way onto the “shopping lists” of many top European clubs with strong performances. Despite the numerous interested parties, Timber stayed with Ajax and has taken on a leading role in the Dutch series champions. Whether the talented central defender will continue to play under Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder after the current season is completely open.

Timber as a possible Pavard replacement?

The rumors about Jurrien Timber and FC Bayern came to an end at the latest with the official presentation of Matthijs de Ligt. However, the rumors could probably pick up steam again next summer. Because, as the transfer portal “Calciomercato” reports, those responsible on Säbener Straße are again dealing with the 21-year-old Dutchman. In addition, the unclear future of another Bayern defender could bring movement to transfer speculation again.

Benjamin Pavard has recently been relatively open about his future on the Isar. The Frenchman even admitted publicly that he had already dealt more intensively with a premature farewell to the German record champions last summer. If Pavard were to leave, Munich would have to add personnel again. For a possible replacement, the Munich team could again put out feelers in the direction of Ajax Amsterdam, where Jurrien Timber is currently playing big. However, the strong performances of the Dutchman also arouse the desires of other top clubs.

AS Roma in der Pole Position

Because according to “Calciomercato”, timber is currently being traded particularly intensively at AS Roma. The scouts of the capital club Timber have observed several times and the relations between Ajax and Roma are described as “positive”.

We will certainly not be reporting on “Causa Timber” for the last time. It remains to be seen how the player with his valid working paper until 2025 and the clubs courting him will decide.
