A Belgian world champion, tied in second place and a French fiasco: The results of our World Cup poll | World Cycling Championships

You can’t call it a surprise. Wout van Aert was put forward en masse in our poll as the absolute top favorite for the World Cup road race. No less than 35% of the participants voted for our compatriot as the new rainbow jersey wearer.

Also in second place is a Belgian. All must Remco Evenepoel do share the silver with Mathieu van der Poel. The duo trained together in Livigno last month and, according to 15% of the voters, also ends up in the most thankless place together.

The duo sprinted Tadej Pogacar (14%) sips from the wheel. The rest were not in the picture.

This is how home driver became Michael Matthews with 4% of the votes the king of the crumbs. Also Biniam Girmay in Benoit Cosnefroy – 3% each – received an honorable mention.

Confidence in the French is clearly not great in our country. So too got enigma Julian Alaphilippe only 1% of the preference votes attributed. The Brit Ethan Hayter and Italian Alberto Bettiol suffered the same fate.

*FYI: 8% of the votes went to the “someone else” category.
