Yerry Mina is suggested to go to a less demanding league than the Premier

Yerry Mina ended up injured last season and at this start of 2022/23 he was injured again in the first game against Chelsea. Since his arrival in England in the summer of 2018, the Colombian has suffered almost 20 injuries, most of them muscular. In this year 2022 he has only 8 official matches with Everton.

Football Insider interviewed Ben Dinnery, doctor in charge of the specialized portal Premier Injuries, and there he talked about what is happening with Mina’s physical state. The defender has one year left on his contract with the Toffees, but the scenario for him to renew is unlikely. His physical problems are getting bigger.

“I am always reluctant to label any player as injury prone, as they have to be managed in different ways, but there comes a point where they cannot cope with the physical demands of the Premier LeagueIf he normally plays less than half of all the games, he is not someone to be trusted. Sometimes you just have to throw your hands up and say maybe it’s time to take a step back and look for a less demanding league somewhere else.”, said the doctor Dinnery. In the last season, Mina appeared in 13 of the 18 Premier League matches.

Despite suggesting leaving for a less demanding league, player injury specialist believes Mina is key for Frank Lampard when it is available. With him on the pitch, Everton are stronger defensively and score more points.

“Previously we have highlighted the importance of him (Mina) in the team. The ratio of points per game is day and night when he is out of the first team. Everton have had problems without him.”

The return of the Colombian defender to the courts would be within 2 months, according to reports from Liverpool. His presence with the Colombian National Team in September friendlies is completely ruled out. Néstor Lorenzo’s team will play against Guatemala and Mexico in the United States.
