Marek UNIFIER Galinskis, who ranked eighth in the list of the best players in the world last year, is a free agent this summer, having left the Russian team “Virtus.pro” due to the war. The Latvian esports player is considered to be the strongest free agent in the computer game CS:GO community at the moment.
In July, he participated in the “IEM Cologne” tournament, doing so as part of “Team Liquid”, where he filled the vacant position. The team scored three wins in five games, ranking decent 5th-6th. instead, however, they suffered a loss in the quarterfinals against the lower-ranked Movistar Riders, a Spanish team that became the surprise of the tournament.
Although after the Cologne tournament, both the other players and UNIFIER himself expressed satisfaction with the cooperation and hope for its continuation, the contract has not been announced. However, HLTV has received confirmation that “Team Liquid” will apply again UNIFIER for the tournament as a placeholder.
It will take place in the “BLAST Premier Fall 2022” tournament, where the group stage will be played from August 19 to 28. It will take place in Copenhagen and will have a prize pool of 177 thousand dollars. 12 teams will fight for three tickets to the autumn finals of the BLAST tournament series, and among them will be Helvij broky Saukant’s FaZe, drawn in subgroup C with Evil Geniuses, Heroic and BIG.
On the other hand, the US team “Liquid”, which currently occupies the 13th place in the world ranking, will play in group B with Ukraine’s “Natus Vincere”, another North American team “Complexity”, which is a distinct underdog in this group (44th place in the world ranking), and France G2 (seventh in the world ranking).
By the way, G2 also currently has one vacancy in its composition, and UNIFIER the name has also been mentioned in connection with this French team, but this evening the manager of “Team Liquid” indicated on social networks that with UNIFIER work is being done so that both parties can announce a long-term cooperation soon.
