The Minister of Youth and Sports Abderrezak Sebgag underlined Tuesday in Annaba “significant advancement» development and rehabilitation works of the sports infrastructures scheduled to host the next African Nations Football Championship (CHAN 2023).

The Minister, who listened to a presentation at the May 19, 1956 stadium by more than 50,000 spectators and whose work is progressing at varying rates from one lot to another (including the lot for the laying of natural turf, which shows a progress rate of 55%), insisted on “the importance of taking into account all the standards relating to the production, including the minute details set by international football bodies, led by FIFA and CAF.”
On this specific point, the Minister emphasized everything with regard to rest areas and infrastructure for spectators and the media, to make, he added, “the stadium capable of hosting any competition in the future, whatever its size.»
Recalling that the State spares no effort to mobilize all the budgets necessary for the development and modernization of sports infrastructure, the Minister indicated that “the vision of the supervising ministry is not limited to the preparations for CHAN 2023 but also aims to transform these sports infrastructures into a legacy and a permanent asset to be used on all occasions.
The Minister of Youth and Sports also inspected, during this visit, the development and upgrading works of the Abdelkader Chabou stadium, chosen to house the training of the teams participating in CHAN 2023. work should be completed at least one month before the start date of the competition.
