After the victory against Belgium, the staff of the French men’s team thanked William Howard, whose summer adventure in Blue is coming to an end. The group of 12 players for the two qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup is therefore known.

The staff of the France team has decided. Following the Montpellier training camp and especially the last two preparation matches, 12 players are retained to face the Czech Republic and then Bosnia-Herzegovina. William Howard will not be part of it. Little used during the preparation matches, he was thanked in the locker room by coach Vincent Collet. The future winger of Joventut Badalone played only 2 minutes 30 against Belgium this Thursday, at the very end of the match to replace Théo Maledon, who was out for bleeding. It was therefore Terry Tarpey who made his way into the final group, thanks to his state of mind, his commitment and his seriousness. However, between the selection for the qualifying matches and that of the EuroBasket, there could be changes. These will depend in particular on the recovery of leader Andrew Albicy and pivot Moustapha Fall.

The 12 players for the next two qualifying matches at the 2023 World Cup:

  • Position 1: Thomas Heurtel
  • 1/2 : Théo Maledon
  • 2/1: Elie Okobo
  • 2/3: Evan Fournier and Isaia Cordinier
  • 3/2: Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot and Terry Tarpey
  • 4: Guerschon Yabusele et Amath M’Baye
  • 5/4: Vincent Poirier
  • 5: Rudy Gobert and Mouhammadou Jaiteh
