Who will be at the ceremony?” – La Brújula 24

The countdown entered its final stretch. On September 10, Emanuel Ginóbili will be crowning his career -completed four years ago- with the formal induction into the NBA Hall of Fame, and although it may seem like another recognition for his outstanding and successful career, it is quite a milestone for Argentine basketball, since it will be the first to integrate it.

There is no doubt that it will be a ceremony full of emotions. Because he will not only be receiving the decoration, but he will also be in front of those who accompanied him along his way. With the exception of Leandro, one of his brothers, his parents and his other brother Sebastián will not be present in Springfield, but Oscar Sánchez, his first DT there in his native Bahía Blanca, will be there.

Continuing with the significant coaches of his career, another one who will be there is Julio Lamas -currently Abel Balbo’s assistant at Central Córdoba-, former Argentina coach. Rubén Magnano and Sergio “Oveja” Hernández will also be absent, as will Gaetano Gebbia, the coach who received him at the Italian Reggio Calabria, in what was Manu’s first international experience.

Luis Scola, Fabricio Oberto, Andrés Nocioni and Pepe Sánchez, members of the Golden Generation, confirmed their presence and will be some of the former colleagues who attend the ceremony. And those who will not be missing from any point of view are Tim Parker and Tim Duncan, his partners on the court at San Antonio Spurs. In fact, Duncan, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year, will be the presenter.

Four NBA rings (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014), the gold medal in Athens 2004 and the bronze in Beijing 2008 with Argentina, two All Star elections (2005 and 2011), the Best Sixth Man award (2008) , the two times elected to the third best quintet of the season and the time he was one vote away from being co-MVP of a final (2005) are just some of the recognitions and achievements that led the 24 voters to unanimously choose inclusion from Bahia, who will be the third Latin American in the HOF, along with Brazilians Oscar Schmidt and Ubiratan Pereira.
