Was he right? – United mishap: Now Rangnick appears again

The now ÖFB team boss is not generally said to have had a particularly happy time as United’s (interim) head coach. Missed the Champions League, couldn’t get Ronaldo under control – the two certificates from (hobby) experts are always at hand. And yet now, retrospectively, he seems to have been given the status of a prophet, so to speak. A video snippet has been going viral since last weekend, which Rangnick does not see as showing a rosy future for the “Red Devils” after United’s 4-0 defeat by Liverpool last season in April. At the time he said Manchester would need “six, seven, eight, maybe ten new players”: “Not because some players have to go, but because contracts are expiring. But before you sign new players, you have to be clear about how you want to play football.” A Twitter user summarized Rangnick’s analysis at the time with the words: “Ralf Rangnick knew that these players were not good enough. But they (those responsible for the club, note) saw him off instead of listening to him.”
