Due to one pot, the Indonesian and Malaysian national teams will not be in the same group in the 2022 AFF Cup. They have the potential to meet only if they both qualify for the semifinals or finals of the 2022 AFF Cup. The draw itself will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on Tuesday 30 August 2022 at 14.00 WIB .
“Malaysia and Indonesia are placed in pot 2 of the 2022 AFF Cup. This means that these two rivals will not meet in the 2022 AFF Cup Group Phase,” wrote Everything Bola.
“Malaysia and Indonesia must leave their respective group stages to meet each other in the semifinals or finals. If these two countries qualify for the next round, Kim Pan-gon’s team wants to take revenge on Shin Tae-yong’s squad,” continued All Ball.
No wonder Everything Bola is so eager for Malaysia to meet the Indonesian national team. In the last edition of the AFF Cup or 2020, Malaysia and the Indonesian national team met on the final matchday of Group B of the 2020 AFF Cup.
