On Sunday, the “Riga” team won the match of the 24th round of the “Optibet” football league over “Metta” with a score of 3:2 (1:1).

The first half ended with a 1:1 draw. In the second half of the second half, Kristofers Rēkis made a handball in his penalty area and brought a 11-meter penalty kick to his own goal. Three minutes before the end of regular time, the head coach of “Metta” team Andris Richerts was expelled from the game. A couple of assistants from both teams were also expelled.

The main referee of the match was Vitaly Spasjonnikov, but Treimanis unusually played the role of the fourth referee.

Richerts explained at the post-match press conference that he did not say anything insulting to Treiman, so he does not understand why he received the red card.

“Where it all started, unfortunately no one got a card. He wanted to show his ego. I wish him to show the same ego in the Champions League, in the Europa League. I will want to see what his next appointment will be, for the next game of that level. Here, our ducks in the pond… I didn’t say anything like that to him. Just that I don’t care, but in slightly different words. And I didn’t say anything personal to any judge,” Richert explained the situation.
