A 12-year-old Utah Little League baseball player who suffered a serious head injury after falling from his upper bunk at the dormitory complex in Pennsylvania can sit, eat and walk with help, has his family said in a statement. social media post on Thursday.
Easton Oliverson, who plays for Snow Canyon in Santa Clara, Utah, was hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition after sustaining an injury Monday. The boy’s family offered an encouraging update.

“We are amazed at her strength and willingness to try new things,” the post read. “He communicated more often with his mother, father and uncles who were with him in the hospital. His voice is much clearer when he talks! He asked Nancy about his hair and why he was there.
The post also showed Easton eating and drinking alone.

Spencer Beck, the boy’s uncle, told The Associated Press that Easton fell out of bed in Williamsport while he slept.

“Teammates heard him go down, thank goodness,” Beck said. “When they had surgery, the doctor spoke to Jace and told him that if he hadn’t had surgery, but 30 minutes later he would be dead.”
Jace Oliverson, the boy’s father, is the assistant coach of the Utah team which made it to the Little League World Series for the first time.

Easton’s brother Brogan was added to the roster so the team could keep their roster of 13 players.
