The US Open is and will remain a tough place for Stefanos Tsitsipas.

After two third-round defeats in the past two years, the 24-year-old was even caught in the opening round this time.

However, Tsitsipas had to have his right forearm massaged several times during the encounter.

“It was definitely the best game of my career, not only because of the circumstances but also because of the opponent,” said the delighted Colombian, who played 6-0 against top 20 professionals.

The 26-year-old now faces Australia’s Jordan Thompson, who defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 2-6, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.
