Lenz falls to the ground, several Frankfurt professionals, including the fouled one, complain. The midfielder puffed himself up several times, and the Frankfurt bench also stood up. But nothing happened!
Not even the video assistant, who SHOULD have seen the scene, turns on. And precisely for such situations – blatant wrong decisions by the referee – the video assistant was finally introduced.
Also in numerous other perspectives you can clearly see the kick of the ex-Leverkusener Carvajal.
BamS referee Thorsten Kinhöfer (54): “For me it is incomprehensible that the VAR did not intervene here. That was a deliberate kick, the ball was far away. That’s red.”
But Michael Oliver let the game continue and did nothing: What “royal” luck, otherwise the Madrilenians would have to continue playing the entire second half with ten players.
Incidentally, in the 37th minute ex-Bayern defender David Alaba gave the Champions League winner the lead. Kroos brought in a corner, Real’s Casemiro saved the ball with a head in front of the line. And Alaba was spot on and scored the 1-0.
There was already a great deal of excitement when the teams arrived: Real super striker Karim Benzema (34) took the Champions League trophy to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Clearly visible on TV: Under the left handle there is a very large dent in the silver of the trophy. What did Real just do with it?
It is not yet known whether the trophy fell before the game or whether it was damaged during transport from Madrid to Helsinki…
And Real should actually finish the game with ten men…
