Twelve in five. Barcelona registered all but one player the day before the start of the league

Barcelona will open the league with a home match against Madrid team Rayo Vallecano. For a long time it was not certain whether they would be able to enter the match with new reinforcements, but during yesterday the official website of LaLiga confirmed that the management accepted the registration of six footballers.

These are forward Robert Lewandowski, stopper Andreas Christensen, midfielder Franck Kessié, winger Raphinha, as well as full-back Sergi Roberto and forward Ousmane Dembélé, who extended their contracts with the club during the summer.

Tormented by financial problems, the big club is trying to alleviate the difficulties with various business transactions, most recently it sold another 24.5 percent of its production studio to Orpheus Media, which is managed by the club’s subsidiary company Barca Studios. The deal announced on Friday for 100 million euros (2.5 billion crowns) followed a two-week-old agreement with the platform socios.com, which bought 25 percent for the same amount.

Defender Koundé, who is not yet registered as a Barcelona player and, according to the club, is still recovering from an injury, will have to wait for his debut. Spanish media have suggested the Catalans are working to negotiate a new contract with long-serving stopper Gerard Piqué, who has reportedly offered the club himself to accept worse terms in order for Koundé to be registered.

Nico González also extended his contract with the Catalan club by two years. The 20-year-old midfielder signed a new contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2026 with an exit clause of one billion euros. But he immediately headed for a one-year loan to Valencia.

In the event that the management of Barcelona, headed by president Joan Laporta, wants to have a complete squad at their disposal by the next round, they will have to speed up negotiations, as the next battle awaits the Blaugranas already on August 21.
