Time will tell if this point works

More was expected, both from Douglas Haig and from Boca Unidos, because each one is playing “their” tournament. Those of Parchment thinking that they can be in the conversation to make the jump in category. For its part, the “redhead” lives another present and the points at stake are important to get out of the location compromised with the permanence it has in the standings.

For all this, a 1-1 final was not expected, it was believed that there could be a winner, but neither one did enough to win the victory and hence the tie fits well with what was seen.

During the first 45 minutes, the two teams reserved for the final part to show the best that each one can give. Insignificance was what characterized most of the initial stage, in which neither local Douglas Haig nor visiting Boca Unidos did much for the show.

The game began with Douglas Haig insinuating something else, when little more than a minute was played, a free kick by Pablo Mazza reached Lucas López who headed the goalpost defended by Lucas De León, but all the play was invalidated by the advanced position of the central marker of Pergamino’s team.

Then, nothing: the departure of Juan Rivas due to injury and the entry of Antonio Medina, a shot from mid-distance by Nahuel Franco that went wide and there was no more to tell.

But the story changed in the 37th minute, when Douglas Haig opened the scoring through Fabio Cabral, who hit an impeccable header after a cross from the right by Ángel Gómez.

Boca Unidos was not daunted and went in search of a draw and achieved it at 41′. A corner kick from the right executed by Medina that reached the head of Matías Ojeda who headed it down, the goalkeeper Juan Ignacio Carrera covered, but it rebounded and the ball was left for Agustín Lavezzi to push the ball into the net.

Justice was done because there was no team that marked a supremacy.

But not a minute passed after the goal when a play came that generated great controversy. Medina threw himself down to try to recover the ball brought by the lateral Mariano Mauri who fell spectacularly and the referee Gustavo Benítez from Salta interpreted that the action of the striker from Chaco deserved the red card. Much was claimed by the people of Boca Unidos, but the ruling did not change and the team was left with one man less.

However, Roberto Marioni’s team continued to think about the opposite goal and could have gone into the break up on the scoreboard, but the crossbar said no to Gabriel Morales’s shot.

The second part was a carbon copy of what was seen at the beginning of the game. Douglas Haig had more possession of the ball, but he did not worry goalkeeper De León to a greater extent, except with a cross shot from Santiago Galucci that hit the base of the post and continued on its way to reach Franco’s feet so that he Take off danger from your bow.

Boca Unidos in the second half went through a straight shot by Gabriel Morales that was well controlled by goalkeeper Carrera.

The agreement with the tie for the coach of Boca Unidos, Roberto Marioni, was finished crystallizing when he ordered the departure of Lavezzi so that Federico López could enter, he put a defender on the field and took out his only reference in the area. An incomprehensible conformity because there were only 21 minutes of play, there was still a long way to go and, despite the man down, Douglas Haig was never a dominator of the game, he had the ball, but he did not know what to do with it .

Time will tell if the point that Boca Unidos took from Pergamino is useful or not. For now it can be said no, because he is still immersed in the lower positions and his permanence in the category is compromised. He could have risked something more but he ended up settling for a tie at one.

Now we have to think that next Wednesday we have to go on stage again, this time at the “Leoncio Benítez” to receive Defensores de Belgrano from Villa Ramallo. For that match, Marioni will not be able to count on Antonio Medina, who was sent off yesterday, and most likely the coach of Juan Rivas, who retired injured in the game against Douglas Haig, will not be able to count on him. Two important casualties at a time of such need.

The good news for the coach is that Ariel Morales, who has completed the suspension date for having reached his fifth yellow card, will be able to return.
