This United is a wreck

Football is moving fast but the ‘Ten Hag Era’ could be more fleeting than first imagined. The doubts about Cristiano’s future, the protests against the Glazers and the debacle at Old Trafford against Brighton were only missing a new defeat for Manchester United, and Murphy’s Law was fulfilled. Opposite was the modest Brentford, although it was enough to overwhelm the Mancunian team, which conceded four goals in 25 minutes.

Everything happened so fast that the booing of the Brentford fans to Eriksen (his ex) went practically unnoticed, since United’s defensive gaps became evident from very early on. The problems behind the ‘Red Devils’, with Lisandro Martínez and Maguire again as chosen, emboldened the wasps, very willing to bite. And soon they found their first bite thanks to De Gea.

Cristiano was the starter but it didn’t help much and 10 minutes into the game he lost a ball that ended up at Da Silva’s feet. The interior of Brentford did not think about it and tried from the outside with a low shot that slipped through De Gea’s fingers, when it already seemed that he had the ball caught. But the mistake ate away at the Spanish goalkeeper, who only eight minutes later handed over a highly compromised ball to Eriksen, who ended up losing it inside the United area to give Brentford a 2-0 lead. Before the Dane realized it, Jensen had already scrambled and artfully crossed the ball from below.

The cameras then focused on Ten Hag, slowly growing paler, despite the strong London sun. But United did not come out of their lethargy and Brentford continued to chase, steal and score, also from corners. Thus came the 3-0, the work of Mee after another mess in the weak defense of the Mancunian team, who had entered a trance and after five minutes received the fourth. Mbeumo was in charge of crowning a play that was born in the Brentford area and in three passes ended up in the net of the also downcast, De Gea.

The Community Stadium was a party and David Raya joined it. That made it impossible to disguise the result for United, who found themselves before the break with a brave exit from the Spanish goalkeeper, who finished the game by winning all duels from above the frustrated Red Devils forwards. A nightmare for Ten Hag, well aware that this United is a wreck.
