They must find a new club: these players who have become “undesirable” and the harsh law of the market

Undesirable rhymes very strongly with Barça and PSG during this summer transfer window. These are surely the two clubs that most want to sort out their workforce. At PSG, it seems that it is rather with a view to falling back on the ground a little, in Barcelona it is rather in the opposite perspective.

Untying the true from the false between rumors and information is not easy during the transfer period. But names like Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, Neto, Samuel Umtiti, Miralem Pjanic, Martin Braithwaite, Alex Collado, Riqui Puig (now in MLS), Sergio Robert and still others would be pushed out by the FC Barcelona. In question ? Barça recruited at all costs, just a year after having to let go of the greatest player in its history at PSG for financial reasons. The Catalans have been in a tight financial situation for a few years now, and it’s reflected on the pitch. After Leo Messi’s departure and a very mixed season, the directors seem to have decided to use their credit card without worrying about the final bill: Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde… Giving rise to many questions. But now, there are still rules to respect and the club is already very indebted. La Liga has not yet allowed him to register his new players or players who have new contracts. Barça must therefore try in particular to reduce its wage bill, but it must also pay the wages of its newcomers. Reduce the salaries of other players and push them out in the event of refusal: this is therefore the current project of FC Barcelona. If this is likely to offer a hell of a show on the football pitch, it is nonetheless a strange strategy in the long term and for the viability of the Barcelona institution… Business to follow.

In France, the Paris Saint Germain, the epitome of delusions of grandeur, seems to be heading a little less insane lately. Although with an extremely large squad, including one of the best players in history, Lionel Messi, a new wind is blowing on the Parc des Princes. The first incarnation of this return to a little more rationality? The appointment of Christophe Galtier as coach, and that of Luis Campos as the club’s “sports adviser”. A few incoming transfers, still one or the other planned but we are far from the last “no limit” transfer windows of the Parisians. Georginio Wijnaldum, not in the plans this season, has been loaned to AS Roma. And other names (sometimes high-sounding) are mentioned on the list of undesirables (even if Galtier does not always go in this direction in his communication): Mauro Icardi, Neymar, Leandro Paredes, Abdou Diallo, Rafinha, Thilo Kehrer… We would have the naivety to believe that all of this goes in the direction of “common sense”, precisely. But again, only the future will tell if the club really wants to settle into this trend or if it is only a passing phase.
