Despite the rain, which characterized the start of the day, the under 18 ITF Grade 5 – Crea Trophy managed to align the two main draws in the semifinals.
In the men’s tournament tomorrow will be Lorenzo Beraldo, a Piedmontese bearer of TC Selva Alta in Vigevano, in the province of Pavia, and Daniele Augenti, a Roman who trains regularly at the Best – Point in Caramagna. Beraldo, who comes from the qualifiers, defeated the Romagnolo of the Galimberti Tennis Team Sevan Bottari, number 8 of the seeding, in three sets. Augenti, number 5 on the draw, got the better of the Belgian Dispas with a clear 6-2 6-1.
In the lower part of the board, instead, Andrea De Marchi, not included among the seeded players at the start, and Samuele Seghetti, number 6 of the seeding, advanced to the next round. De Marchi put an end to the path of Christian Capacci, third favorite of the review, with a clear 6-4 6-0; Seghetti stopped the Piedmontese from Sporting Press Filippo Pecorini for 6-4 6-3.
In women there was the surprise of the elimination of the first seed, Giada Di Paola, by the hand of Irene Riva, color bearer of the TC President of Parma. Riva is good at winning a comeback (3-6 7-6 6-0) taking advantage of the psychological decline of the most accredited in the third set.
Tomorrow the winner will face the French Noemi Daudon in the semifinal, who defeated the blue Zerpelloni in three fractions. In the semi-final of the lower part it will be a challenge between Giuliana Giardina and Noemi Maines, number 2 of the seeding.
The first got the better of Miriana Galletta today 6-3 in the third set; the second instead won against Carola Bassotti, number 3 on the main draw with a double 7-5.
Tomorrow the semifinals will start at 11.
Doubles finals are scheduled for the afternoon.
