Two of the semi-finalists of the Latvian Cup – FS “Jelgava” and “Grobiņa SC/LFS” represent the second strongest or Future League. Meanwhile, FK “Auda” joined the Superleague only this season, having won the Future League tournament last year. The semi-finals will be played already on September 1, but the grand final will take place in Riga, at the “Skonto” stadium, on October 19.
In the history of the Latvian Cup since 1936, 38 different club teams have won the prestigious trophy, but since the country regained its independence, 12 different teams have lifted the cup. The current keeper of the trophy is the RFS team.
