The NBA world is in mourning. Bill Russell died “peacefully at the age of 88” after playing for thirteen seasons in the best basketball in the world. The reactions were not long in coming and Emanuel Manu Ginóbili published a heartfelt message.
Russell was a champion in 85 percent of the seasons in which he played, 11 championships in 13 campaigns, and, in addition to being a 12-time All-Star and registering a Finals Game 7 with 30 points and 40 rebounds, Bill was a symbol of struggle against racism in the NBA and in the United States.
With the 11 championships he won with the Boston Celtics, Bill Russell is the winningest athlete in the history of American sports. The NBA legend was inducted into the Naismith Memorian Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975, the same place Manu Ginobili will arrive on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
In the history of the NBA there is also a place for Emanuel Ginobili as one of the best Sixth Men of all time.
