The Golden Lion offers the Yvon Lutbert trophy

The Golden Lion of Saint-Joseph won the Yvon Lutbert trophy, the first title of the season, at the expense of CO Trénelle (2-1) Friday evening at the Georges Gratiant stadium in Lamentin.

The Golden Lion, outgoing champion of Regional 1 displays his ambitions: to continue his reign over Martinican football. The players of the Saint-Joseph team won the final of the Yvon Lutbert trophy (2-1) against the Club Olympique de Trénelle of Fort-de-France, Friday evening, August 19, 2022, at the Georges Gratiant stadium in Lamentin.

The club offers the 6,000 euros awarded to the winner by the organizer, the CTM (Territorial Collectivity of Martinique).

In the semi-final (August 17), the Golden Lion blew up the Océanic Club du Lorrain champion of R3, (10-0). In the other meeting, CO Trénelle, winner of the Martinique Cup, had dominated Club Péléen, champion of R2 (2-0).

This trophy, absent for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, marks the opening of the football season in Martinique.

From this weekend, the teams are entering the second round of the Coupe de France. L’Essor Préchotin is already qualified due to the withdrawal of Uj Redoute. The Spark of Macouba is also qualified because the ASPTT forfeits.
