After the shipwreck against Slovenia in the quarter-finals of the EuroBasket, the French U18 men’s team beat Lithuania 80-60 in a placement match and can still believe in a qualification for the U19 World Cup.
If during the first quarter the debates were balanced and the Blueberries were led (18-22, 10′)they were able to move up a gear to regain control of the game by picking up the score (24-24, 13′) then inflicting a terrible 16-2 to Lithuanians (40-28, 19′) to go to the locker room with a small lead (42-30) thanks to the good activity of Mael Hamon Crespin (10 points) et Rayan Rupert (8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists for 13 rating).
If the scenario of the match took the turn of the quarter against Slovenia in its first part, the tricolors this time knew how to stay the course to continue to lead the debates after the break, by knocking out their opponents of the day under the pulse of Zachary Perrinrather prominent in the meeting (13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists for 15 rating) well helped by the activity of Melvin ajinca (10 points), Kymany Houinsou (11 points and 5 rebounds) et sidy Cissoko (8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for 14 rating in 19 minutes). In the end, Lithuania did not recover and chased the score throughout a fourth quarter, managed with an iron fist by Blueberries who never released the pressure to win. 20 units (80-60).
The first part of the way is done for the Bleuets, but we must now confirm this recovery against Israel or Italy, this Sunday at 12:45 p.m. in the match for 5th place which will be synonymous with qualification for the next World Cup. U19.
