The Free Conversations at the Piano of Maestro Pellegrino on the occasion of the reopening of the Archaeological Museum of Kamarina

The Free Conversations at the Piano by Maestro Marcello Giordano Pellegrino will accompany the awaited reopening ceremony of the Archaeological Museum of Kamarina, tomorrow, Monday 1 August at 20:00.

On the occasion of tomorrow’s appointment, it will also be possible to visit the site until 24.00.

The Archaeological Museum of Kamarina, one of the most important in Sicily, constitutes a precious heritage of terrestrial and submarine archeology. Kamarina, whose name according to Strabo means “Inhabited after a lot of effort”, was an important colony of Syracuse, built at the mouth of the Ippari river in the Province of Ragusa. Today only ruins and important archaeological finds remain of it, mainly on the Cammarana hill in the territory of the municipality of Ragusa. Situated on a hill, the acropolis today shows the remains of the Temple of Athena; at the southwestern end of the hill, between the temple of Athena Poliade and the port, lies the agora, whose excavations have not yet been completed. The best preserved remains of the walls are, however, located below the hill of Heracles.

Present at the opening ceremony of the Museum the Councilor for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity Alberto Samonà, the General Manager of Cultural Heritage and IS Dr. Calogero Franco Fazio and the Director of the Park Dr. Domenico Buzzone.
