The municipal pavilion of El Chorrillo is undergoing renovation work on its playing surface for the first time since it opened in 2006. After 16 years and several floods on its surface due to different episodes of torrential rains, the last ones affecting the interior of the pavilion that occurred in 2011, the Department of Sports of the City Council of El Rosario is executing a significant investment in the main sports center of the Municipality that exceeds 50,000 euros. Along with the work to replace the sports flooring and improve the surface, which already had some undulations in different sections, the restrooms are being renovated. Added to this is the renovation of the old lighting sources for new LED technology projectors, an action that has already been carried out previously.

The mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, and the mayor of Sports, Juan Jesús del Rosario, visited, today, Thursday, the works, which these days have consisted of lifting the 1,300 square meters of the old PVC surface and roughing, cleaning and drying of the concrete floor. The new surface will be composed of a highly elastic colored multilayer coating, based on acrylic resins and an elastic granulated rubber mat, which improves the performance of the previous one by having greater resistance to wear, ultraviolet rays and humidity.

In the El Chorrillo pavilion, which will soon be named “Leticia Batista”, in honor of the gymnast from Rosario and as agreed in plenary session, hundreds of athletes from different disciplines such as rhythmic gymnastics, basketball, badminton or volleyball train each season.
