Tension mounts in Blue Jays loss to Yankees

Alek Manoah hit back at Gerrit Cole after hitting Aaron Judge in a loss.

NEW YORK — Andrew Benintendi hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to break the tie as the New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 on Sunday.

The Yankees avoided a four-game sweep against the Torontonians. The New York club leads the Blue Jays by eight games at the top of the American East Division.

In round five, Alek Manoah hit Aaron Judge in the left elbow. The Major League homers leader glanced in Manoah’s direction as Yankees ace Gerrit Cole yelled from the dugout.

“When your guy is hit, it usually gets your attention,” Boone said, much calmer. I don’t think it was intentional, but it got everyone focused and we moved on. »
