Barcelona finally won the Jules Kunde transfer saga this summer. The LaLiga giants can beat Chelsea in the hunt for the Sevilla defender.
Chelsea initially was after him, even since last year. The Blue made him an option, having left his defender this summer.
Chelsea have even submitted a proposal to Sevilla. However, Sevilla held him back.
At the same time, Barcelona also wanted him. The problem was that the Camp Nou camp had no money to buy Jules Kunde.
Mateu Alemany, director of Barcelona, told how Barcelona finally won the competition with Chelsea. Despite almost giving up, Barcelona was finally able to buy Kounde thanks to the disbursement of funds from the sale of TV broadcasting rights.
“Almost every day they (Kunde’s team) called me to tell me, because Kounde wanted to join Barça and he was waiting for us. Until finally I had to tell Jonathan (Kebe, Kounde’s agent) not to call again, because I really didn’t know what to say to him,” said Alemany, reported by the Daily Mail.
“When we sold the second part of the TV rights in the future, Kounde even almost finished his contract with another club. But he wanted to come to Barca.”
Until finally, Jules Kunde officially signed by Barcelona this summer. The French defender became another top signing, after Los Cules could also sign Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Robert Lewandowski.
