star of the Bundesliga: Mané does not wait for the VAR

His ex-coach Jürgen Klopp has already praised newcomer Sadio Mané for his character. Mané showed why in the Bochum game – and earned ours with it stern of match day.

Minutes before the half-time break in the VfL Bochum game against FC Bayern, the ball bounces off the left post. From a short distance he hits the onrushing Sadio Mané. Shortly after each other both fall into the goal. That 4-0? Referee Daniel Siebert is probably already in consultation with video referee Christian Gittelmann.

Siebert would only have had to take a look at Mané. He sat grinning mischievously in Bochum’s goal net, tapped his left hand with his right hand and winked at the TV camera. Gestures and facial expressions were clear: “I did it with my left hand!”

And, oh wonder: Siebert and Gittelmann came to the same conclusion a few moments later. So Mané stands up, doesn’t protest, doesn’t lament. Instead, he keeps playing. Less than two minutes later, Mané scored to make it 4-0. Later he made it 5-0 with a penalty. Even if his honesty at Bayern’s demonstration of power in Bochum was only a side note, there is:
