Slavia – Panathinaikos 2:0, Slavia overcame the wild and made progress against Panathinaikos

The Czech national team started against the league match against Hradec Králové with three new fighters in the lineup, coach Jindřich Trpišovský mixed up the offensive line-up, replaced both wings and the striker.

Ondřej Lingr moved unusually, but not for the first time, at the tip, the extreme positions were occupied by Peter Olayinka and Ivan Schranz, whose story surrounding the first match with Greek Sok is remarkable. The Slovakian representative was not even on the cup roster on Wednesday afternoon and ended up becoming one of the main heroes of the red and white team.

From the first minutes, Panathinaikos gave the impression that a goalless draw was enough for them, and for forty minutes they confirmed the knowledge that their opponents have difficulty getting chances against them.

Emotions on the pitch gradually rose and fully exploded in the 40th minute. The speedy midfielder Palacios rushed into the penalty area, where Aiham Ousou took the ball cleanly from him in a slide. However, French referee Ruddy Buquet assessed Palacios’ actions as filming and gave him a second yellow card because he already had the first one for a foul.

The exclusion of an important winger really pumped up the guests from Greece, one of the assistants of head coach Ivan Jovanovič also received a red card. Slavia recorded this, remained calm and intensified their activity at the end of the half.

It paid off for her. In the first minute of regulation, Lingr failed in a giant dunk, which was caught by goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli. A minute later, however, it was Schranz who scored, sending the rebound into the goal after a stoppage after a standard situation.

But soon after the break, they did their own thing. The visitors’ substitute striker Andraž Šporar got behind the defense, Eduardo Santos pulled him to the ground halfway and the referee sent him off. The number of players equalized again. The space on the stage suited, for example, fresh Slavist wingmen Ewerton and Moses Usoro.

Both contributed significantly to the second goal. Ewerton was left unguarded in the middle of the field in the 55th minute, hitting the post after a quick break. Usor promptly cleared the ball into the net. Slavia thus takes a comfortable lead to Athens, also because Georgios Vagiannidis’ hard shot flew wide.
