Serena and Venus Williams will compete together at the US Open

Serena y Venus Williamsmultiple winners of Grand Slam tournaments in the doubles modality, they will dispute (possibly for the last time) as a couple the US Open 2022 after receiving a wild card from the organization.

The sisters they have not competed together since 2018, when they paired up at Roland Garros and reached the third round. In New York, on the other hand, they haven’t done it since 2014. On that occasion they were quarterfinalists after losing to Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova.

This couple has won throughout his career, 14 WTA titles of which all are Grand Slam events. In the breakdown, four were at the Australian Open (2001, 2003, 2009 y 2010), two at Roland Garros (1999 y 2010), six at Wimbledon (2000, 2002, 2008, 2009, 2012 y 2016) and two at the US Open (1999 y 2009).

As a team, the Williams sisters they are in the second position of more Grand Slam trophies won in this modality. The first place is held by the couple of Margaret Osborne duPont and Louise Brough (Amateur Era) and Martina Navratilova with Pam Shriver (Open Era) with 20 trophies each couple while the second is shared by Serena and Venus with 14 together with Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva.
