Scotty Pippen Jr. really thought he was going to be drafted

The evening of the Draft will remain a bad memory for Scotty Pippen Jr. After waiting for the 58 choices to be made by the various franchises, the son of Scottie, the former Bulls legend, was ultimately not called by Adam Silver.

He bounced back rather well since he very quickly signed a “two-way contract” with the Lakers, which is not the worst destination. But the reverse of the Draft remains present in his mind.

“Yes, of course it’s disappointing”, acknowledges Pippen for the Lakeshow podcast. “I thought I did everything well, especially during the Draft Combine. I think I performed well, I did 15 or 20 workouts. But nothing happens by chance. I don’t ask myself the question. When I didn’t hear my name, I was disappointed, but the Lakers are better for me. I play for a franchise that is fighting for the title. It’s a dream come true. »

Being snubbed by the franchises in June is therefore a perfect driver for the back, to show the teams that they were wrong to ignore him.

“It adds some motivation. It was the same when I was in high school. I was recruited to go to university and I made my way, proving that I could evolve to the next level, that I had my place. It is clear that it adds a huge motivation to work harder. »
