Ronaldo must leave, make room for future Manchester United striker

Jakarta

Wayne Rooney believes that Manchester United will be better off without Cristiano Ronaldo. If the Portuguese superstar leaves, the Red Devils could soon build a strong team to compete in the long term.

It was written by Rooney in his column in The Times daily. The man who now coaches DC United in the United States thinks that MU should focus on players who can last a long time at the club, while Ronaldo is 37 years old.

“In my opinion, United should let Ronaldo go. Not because he can’t play under (Erik) ten Hag. He can play under anyone, and Ronny will always give you goals,” wrote Rooney.

“But from my personal point of view, United are not ready to be champions at the moment, so they should build a team that can win the Premier League in 3-4 years, and that needs planning.”

“If the reports that Cristiano wants to leave are true, then United should allow him to leave, then look for a number 9 player who will stay for the next 3-4 years to help the club build a successful team. Ten Hag must be given time.”

Rooney played with Ronaldo for 5 seasons in 2004-2009, and won one Champions League title and three Premier League trophies. When Ronaldo left for Real Madrid, he stayed at Old Trafford until 2017.

Ronaldo is still staying at Manchester United. There is no club that wants to recruit him even though his agent, Jorge Mendes has moved here and there offering CR7 services to a number of big European clubs.
