Robin Koch: “Wants to go back to the national team” – football

Robin Koch has not yet given up the fight for a place in the team of national soccer coach Hansi Flick.

“I want to go back to the national team,” said the 26-year-old ex-Freiburger in the “kicker” interview. The central defender from Leeds United has not yet been used under Flick, he played the last of his eight international matches for the DFB selection in June 2021 in a 1-1 friendly in Denmark. At the European Championships last year, Koch was in the German squad, but was not used by the national coach at the time, Joachim Löw.

Löw’s successor Flick only nominated Koch again last March, but Koch had to pass because of a positive corona test.

Koch has made a strong start to the season with his team, but he himself is also playing well under former Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch. “He came in a difficult situation. He made us relaxed,” said Koch about the American.
