July 2022 was an important month for the world of cycling! On July 31, the Women’s Tour de France ended and on July 23, the men’s tour ended. On this occasion, a look back at the life of a cyclist whose impact has gone beyond the boundaries of sport.
In this episode we are going to talk to you, or rather talk to you again, about a great cyclist. Indeed, we had already told you about his sporting exploits 2 years ago, in an old episode of True Story. But it’s not just a sports story. It is that of a man who had to fight all his life, to earn his place, to cross the finish line first, but above all to thwart racist prejudices. He was one of the first black world champion athletes, and he is still today the only black cyclist to have won this title. However, it will have taken several decades for us to remember him.
