“UEFA is proud to announce that semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) will make its debut in European club competitions at the UEFA Super Cup match in Helsinki. In addition, the SAOT will also be used from the group stage of the next season of the UEFA Champions League”, said the body chaired by Ceferin. The new system will work thanks to a dozen specialized cameras that can track 29 body points different per player and that will be placed around the perimeter of the field of play.
