New revelations in the Pogba affair. According to information from RMC Sport, confirmed by Franceinfo, Paul Pogba would have paid 100,000 euros to his extortionists, in March 2022. Childhood friends as well as the big brother of the French international would have claimed 13 million euros from him in threatening him in a Parisian apartment, with two armed men.
A sum to be given “to those who have protected him for years”, and “ensured his safety”, believe the extortionists, according to what Paul Pogba would have explained to the investigators.
His bankers refused
The blackmailers wanted to recover 3 million euros immediately, before obtaining the rest of the sum. The midfielder would then have wanted to make the first payment requested, before his bankers refused to allow him to withdraw 3 million euros. As compensation, Paul Pogba agrees to give 100,000 euros to his extortionists, and signs a paper ensuring that he will pay the amount of the sum.
But this would not have been enough to calm the pressure put on by the extortionists. The new Juventus player therefore filed a complaint in Italy. The Italian authorities transmitted the information to the Paris prosecutor’s office on August 1, before the latter opened an investigation in Paris, two days later, for “attempts at extortion by an organized gang”.
The investigations have been entrusted to the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime (OCLCO), and an investigating judge could be seized in the coming days.
