Pinar del Río decreases in schoolchildren and youth

Pinar del Río fell to thirteenth national place in school and tenth in youth, after computing the results of each discipline in which they competed.

In the last edition of these competitions, corresponding to 2019, Vueltabajo was ranked ninth in the first case and third in the youth, according to Orestes Capote Fábregas, provincial head of School Sports.

Although the causes of the decrease in both cases must undergo an exhaustive analysis, there are aspects that can be pointed out from now on, such as, for example, in the 36 sports summoned, schoolchildren did not participate in 14 for various reasons.

In this category, the results are measured by four aspects: place achieved in each sport, technical evaluation of the educational objectives, effectiveness and medals. In the 2019 edition, 345 points were obtained and this time it was 200.5.

Only the canoeing and archery competitors climbed to the school podium by obtaining third place; the fourth step was occupied by volleyball; and the fifth wrestling and table tennis.

In sixth place was the shot; artistic gymnastics, Basque pelota and triathlon were ranked seventh; the eighth corresponded to judo and the ninth to rhythmic gymnastics.

Taekwondo and swimming ranked tenth; the eleventh was for athletics and weightlifting; In 12th place were boxing, fencing and beach volleyball, while baseball went to 13th and chess to 15th.

Both in this category and in the youth, the soccer and tennis results that have not been offered by the national management of the sports organization are yet to be computed.

The decline in the youth is focused on the fact that only badminton (first place) and softball (third) obtained medals.

In 2019, Pinar managed to accumulate 423 points and this time it was 251.5. Only results, effectiveness and medals are measured here.

This year athletics was fourth and volleyball and chess fifth.

Basque pelota, taekwondo and table tennis occupied the sixth position and the seventh was for basketball, men’s baseball, artistic gymnastics and pentathlon.

Eighth were the fencing, weightlifting and wrestling athletes and ninth those of canoeing and water polo.

In the tenth seat were rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, beach volleyball and rowing; while judo was eleventh.

Lastly, cycling and shooting appear in 12th place and boxing in 13th.
