One last badminton silver for Canada at the Commonwealth Games

Canadian Michelle Li lost Monday in the women’s badminton individual final, thereby inheriting the silver medal from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Hong Kong native and resident of Markham, Ontario, Lee lost in straight sets 21-15, 21-13 to India’s Venkata Sindhu Pursala.

In a meeting marked by long rallies – one of them totaled 57 shots in the space of 69 seconds in the opening round – Li saw her rival register 20 points while she was not serving.

Even more difficult, Li recorded only 9 meager points on his serve throughout the match.

English double in 10m synchro

In the diving pool, England went with a bang by achieving a gold-silver double in the mixed synchronized event on the 10-meter platform.

On the 3m springboard, the Scottish pair of James Phillip Heatley and Grace Elisabeth Reid took gold with 306 points while Australia and Malaysia completed the podium.

Canadian representatives Bryden Robert Hattie and Margo Claire Erlam (288.60) ranked 6th.

Canada concludes these Games with a total of 92 medals, ie 26 gold, 32 silver and 34 bronze, which earns it 3rd place behind Australia and England.
