NFL: Matthew Stafford’s elbow is doing well

Although angered by what he described as a “little pain,” Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford looked in full control on the court on Saturday.

Neither the player nor the team revealed the exact nature of this injury. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, however, said last week that it was tendonitis.

If he’s skipped his turn more often than not since the start of training camp for the defending Super Bowl champions, Stafford certainly reassured a lot of people with several long passes on Saturday.

“We have a great plan,” Stafford told ESPN. I feel stronger every time I come here and throw. I felt like I could make any pitch today. And I just try to be smart when I have these opportunities to make sure I can come in here and let go and throw. (…) [J’essaie] to feel as good as I can going into the first game of the season while getting as many reps as I can [à l’entraînement].»

No worries

His head coach, Sean McVay, was among the most observant people when Stafford stepped onto the court. And in his eyes, there is no doubt: the state of health of his protege is improving day by day.

“If you looked [l’entraînement]I don’t really know what you can ask about [le coude] of Stafford, launched the pilot. I mean, he threw the ball all over the field. We’re absolutely on track with what we were hoping for, and I think you could really see the ball leaving his hands with vigor.”

The Rams will play their first preseason game Saturday against the Chargers. As a curtain raiser to the campaign, they will host the Buffalo Bills on September 8.
