NBA announces 2022-23 season with Lakers vs. Warriors; The Celtics take on the 76ers – NBA

The 2022-23 NBA season kicks off Oct. 18 with two games, including the host Golden State Warriors receiving their championship rings ahead of their opener against the Los Angeles Lakers in San Francisco.

The game is a repeat of opening night in 2021 when the Warriors beat the Lakers in Los Angeles.

In Game 2, the Boston Celtics, last season’s runners-up, will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the season opener, 77th in the league. The NBA released its full schedule on Wednesday.

The regular season will end on April 9, 2023. The Play-In tournament will start two days later and end on April 14. The playoffs will begin on April 15. Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals is scheduled to be played on June 1.

Christmas Day will feature five meetings, including the Lakers, Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks. There will also be two world matches in the season. The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs meet on December 17 in Mexico City and the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons face off on January 19 in Paris.

The league has also ensured the reduction of travel in the schedules. Team miles driven are at historically low levels, by league. The total number of miles flown will decrease by more than 50,000 compared to the 2021-22 season.
