National player Bonga changes from NBA to FC Bayern

München. The German national basketball player Isaac Bonga is moving from the North American professional league NBA to the Bundesliga club FC Bayern.

The 22-year-old guard has signed a two-year contract with Munich until the summer of 2024, as the German runner-up announced. The specialist portal “Basketnews” had previously reported.

“Isaac is incredibly versatile and talented,” said sports director Daniele Baiesi about the newcomer. “He is a modern player whose great potential has not yet been fully exploited. We are honored that he chose us to do just that now.”

Bonga, who is missing from the national team’s squad for the home European Championship due to injury, switched from the Frankfurt Skyliners to the USA in 2018. In the best basketball league in the world, the native of Rhineland-Palatinate played a total of 143 main round and five playoff games for the Los Angeles Lakers, the Washington Wizards and the Toronto Raptors.

Most recently, the 2.03 meter tall professional was only used in Toronto’s farm team. Bonga will play with the Munich team in the Euroleague next season.
